Craft Tips
| Plastic yarn Needles - I use the plastic needles to weave my yarn
ends in of my projects I'm working on.
Basket's - Line your basket's with a crochet liner, crochet your liner to fit your basket , also crochet a ruffle edging and tack in place using hot glue. Zip lock baggies: Keeping small projects together: I use a Zip lock baggies for my smaller projects, when working on something that has a few pieces its easier to keep them in a Zip lock bag so all your pieces stay together until your ready to put your project together. I use the gallon sizes ones. Coffee cans: I use a big coffee can to hold my yarn in as I'm working, this keeps it from rolling on the floor and stuff, just was out a used coffee can and the cover, cut up a round hole in middle of cover, put your roll of yarn in can, slip end throw cover, attach cover, and your ready to start.
When working with ribbon, heat treat
your ends so they won’t unravel. You can do this with a wood burning
tool, or just a butane lighter. It takes a little practice, if you burn
too much, just snip it off and try again.
When doing machine embroidery -
Instead of hooping your fabric, just use a spray adhesive (kk 2000
works great and doesn’t gum up on your needle) then attach with a
running stitch around your design. This method holds the fabric in
place nicely and doesn’t burn the fabric. It also makes it easier to
get your designed centered where you want it to be.
When knitting or crocheting a
patterned design, write each row on a separate index card and clamp them
all together in order. When you are finished with a row, move that card
to the back. This makes it much easier to pay attention to which row
you are on, and it is easier to read the cards than the small writing in
pattern books.
I use dryer sheets to keep fresh smell in my yarn containers. Use a
powder fragrance or a baby fragrance so it isn't too strong. Also
use them to wipe my hands as I am working on projects to keep the
smell fresh.
